August 2013

After a Petey ride in MN, the girls were ready to take Jenny for a spin. Surprisingly, she let them ride.

was coming to tell me she wasn't happy with having to take turns

all smiles - my turn again!

Had a few fawns that hung out in our pasture since they couldn't jump our back fence to be with their mommas. This one we got to come up to us to check out the funny critter that was bleating (or trying to sound like a bleating deer).

Our fair is in August. Rodney keeps busy with rodeo concessions, helping with the steer show, making sure his FFA kids are doing what they need to do and filling in wherever he is needed. The girls and I help set up for concessions and they like to walk around seeing all the animals. And watching the rodeos.

Next summer, I'm gonna be kicked back, relaxin' on the deck with some iced tea...I got a new lawn mower (or two):

Ridin' her horse:

Rodney began his 7th year of teaching. It's hard to believe we've been down here that long already. He's still greatly appreciated by the school and community. Some call him the best teacher Sheridan has- and I gotta agree with them. :)

Garden: Our garden didn't fare real well this year. It grew grass really great, but not much else. Did get some zucchini and summer squash from it. And a few beets (Rodney was real impressed- haha). Hannah checked the garden at least once a day. So excited when there was something to pick. Here's the first produce:

Thanks Gramma Nec and Papa George for the plants!

This month also brought a small forest fire near us, glad it was taken care of shortly! Then when it was time to go haying, we get dumped on with rain. We needed the moisture and the puddles made some happy girls!

Summer isn't summer without sweet corn. Especially if you were raised in the Midwest and Ma and Pa had a sweet corn patch. It appears our girls like sweet corn as much as I do! We get it from the Hutterites that come to the Twin farmer's market.

At the end of the month we made a short trip back to MN, my Grandma Young passed away. It sure is comforting to those left behind when someone who has been faithful passes away. Was nice to see some folks that I haven't seen in quite a while. All of us kids, except Andy and his family, were there. Was a bit warmer this trip :) so the kids got to play outside more. We also enjoyed a day at Rollag and taking in the scenes of the WMSTR (Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion). If you are ever in the area during Labor Day weekend, check it out! http://rollag.com But one day hardly covers it all.
I forgot my camera at home, so just got a few pics on the ipad:

The rainbow we got to see grow and fade somewhere in the middle of Montana.
Few pics of the kids playing:
